But the real story is different and more important. What's happening with DJI signals how technology itself is fragmenting into separate ecosystems controlled by different powers. This isn't about one company or one product category. It's about what innovation looks like when the world stops sharing tools.
Consider the actual timeline. DJI has dominated the commercial drone market for years, not because of espionage or subsidies, but because they made excellent products at competitive prices. They invested in research. They iterated. They built something people wanted. This is how technology normally works.
Now suppose those products become unavailable in the United States. What replaces them? American companies will need to develop competitive alternatives. That's not inherently bad.
